ERBRA – an artistic performance by Anne Rochat

Rolex Learning Center’s patio
School year 2013-2014

ARTISTIC PERFORMANCES:
Wednesday October 2 at 5pm
Thursday May 1 at 5pm

Following an invitation by EPFL’s Arts and Cultural Affairs department, artist-performer Anne Rochat will return to campus on Thursday, May 1, at 5:00 p.m. as part of the Artist on Campus program.

She will perform her second piece around ERBRA, a sculpture involving a plant that is on display in one of the Rolex Learning Center’s patios. Last October, she played the bass while being dragged across the floor, and tore up the white shirt of her host Gille Furtwängler with her teeth. Now she is returning to campus for another display of physical poetry

Performance “Noumène” – Thursday 1st of May at 5 p.m.:

  • With: Anne Rochat and Laurent Bruttin, musician
  • Props and scenario: Two transparent balloons, each two meters in diameter; inside one balloon, the artist’s head. This inhabited balloon will interact with a musician and a second balloon. Sensory and audible vibrations. Stimulating our creativity, this synopsis keeps the door wide open for improvisation and experimentation. Indeed, Anne Rochat sees her performances as experiments demanding both intense physical preparation and conceptual rigor. The performance itself is the moment when bodies, gestures, and ideas – the ingredients of her art – express themselves.
