ALICE REVEALED – Laboratory exhibit

The ALICE Laboratory (Design Studio on the Conception of Space) will present a selection of architectural design projects carried out over the past years: Luna St-Prex, the Montreux Jazz Heritage Lab, the Porte des Savoirs Lausanne-Croisette, Evolver Zermatt…
Full scale prototypes, models, photographs, and films will be on display, providing a glimpse into the evolution of experimental architecture.

Around fifty EPFL students will display posters inspired by works presented at the “Superman, Batman & Co…mics!” exhibit carried out at the Maison d’Ailleurs. The outcome is … surprising!

MESMER – DANCE PERFORMANCE BY CIE CADMIUM

Rolex Learning Center – Outdoors below the arches
Performances at 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. (30mn)

A dancer and a musician’s half hour duet. Piezo and electromagnetic sensors worn by the dancer translate movements to signals with which the musician composes the soundtrack in real time. Between performances the audience will get a chance to test the sensors firsthand and explore the wealth of sounds that can be generated using the signals.

PECHAKUCHA – TIMED CONFERENCE

Rolex Learning Center – Forum
At 8:20 p.m. (duration: 1 hour)

Artists and scientists will present their work in a carefully timed conference following a 20×20 rule. Each speaker will project 20 slides with 20 seconds for each slide. Be inspired by these reliably spirited presentations.

ARCHITECTURE BY LINE – SAUL STEINBERG

SG Building – Archizoom Gallery
From 2 p.m. to midnight (until November 29)

With his invariably surprising freedom of spirit, the trenchant and ironic drawings by artist Saul Steinberg take us head-first into the debates that marked the development of architecture in the 20th Century. Besides a selection of his works, the exhibition is an opportunity to become acquainted with other like-minded artists, capable of capturing in just a few lines the essence of our complex and subtle relationship with space and with constantly evolving cities.
